Sooo helpful.

Monday nights are supposed to be “homework” nights, not “study” nights. So I am supposed to be working on my friend’s resume site, but instead I am watching the boilerplate video.

Blogger and developer Matt Gemmell has gazed into the dark side of of search engine optimization (SEO), and while he understands the value of having your personal site, your blog, or your company’s web site rank well in search results, he’s not willing to sell his soul to do it.

Diving into HTML5 Boilerplate

I was curious since a while about HTML5 Boilerplate. By chance, leaving Drupal for the time of a single page website, I had the opportunity to see what it is all about.

I was pretty amazed how the framework was easy to use. The result is a gain of 13 points with Google Speed, from 76 to 89. Nearly perfect, check it here: http://decibelsolutions.com

Putting the hands into Edge

Two days ago, the HTML5 scene was getting excited by the launch of Adobe Edge Preview. Me too… Actually, I dropped Flash, partly because its huge resource consumption, lack of support on iOS, but also because I just refused to spend time learning ActionScript 3.

So, I downloaded Edge and try it. Well, not so much to say about that. The UI is clean because of very few function, but it run smoothly and intuitively. Then I saved my first test, looks after the code and… Ahhrrrgggh, no <canvas>! How is this possible? Did I missed some settings? I tried to manually replace the div with the canvas tag. Just blank page…

Then, I went to Google, searching about this issue and find this post from Rob Hawkes : Why has Edge gone with div-based animation over canvas and SVG?

Adobe answers points out that we should be patient. Canvas will be supported in a next release, most probably after Apple will have upgrade to iOS5, because right now iOS4 is too slow for canvas. The good joke!
